This fascinating natural specimen features coralloid cave calcite (often called “cave popcorn”), a type of speleothem formation created when mineral-rich water slowly deposits layers of calcium carbonate inside caves. Over time these deposits form rounded clusters and textured growth patterns resembling popcorn or coral.
The specimen displays beautiful botryoidal and coralloid crystal formations, with delicate mineral growth that developed naturally over long geological timescales.
Under 365nm UV light, the specimen shows a striking blue-white fluorescence and exhibits a subtle phosphorescent afterglow once the UV light is removed. This behaviour is typical of manganese-activated calcite or aragonite, making it an excellent addition to any UV reactive mineral collection.
This piece is ideal for mineral collectors, fluorescent mineral enthusiasts, geology displays, and cabinet collections.
You will receive the exact specimen shown in the photos.
